Mutual Aid Box Alarm System Communications Committee Meeting Minutes September 18, 2006 |

I. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 10:15 a.m. at Lisle-Woodridge Station 1. Present were committee members Paul Maplethorpe, Round Lake; Steve Rauter, Lisle-Woodridge; Gregg Riddle, IFCA; John Lozar, Ducomm; and Dennis Higgins, Livingston County.
II. Approve Prior Meeting Minutes
D/C Rauter moved to approve the August 21, 2006 minutes with Advocacy Statement 11 added on page 4. Second by Mr. Riddle. All AYES; motion carried.
III. Advocacy Statement – Dispatch List Serve
No comments or concerns were received concerning the proposed MABAS Dispatch List Serve advocacy statement. Consensus to propose Advocacy Statement #11 – MABAS Telecommunicator List Serve for consideration by the MABAS Executive Board at the October meeting.
IV. Recommended Practice – Emergency/Evacuation Tone
Several e-mails were received by Committee members concerning programming issues related to the proposed emergency/evacuation tone. All issues seem to be resolved. This recommended practice will be presented to the MABAS Executive Board for consideration at the October meeting.
V. Advocacy Statement - Interdivisional Request
This statement was reviewed and some language edited.
D/C Rauter moved to approve Advocacy Statement #12-Interdivisional Requests and forward same to the MABAS Executive Board. Second by Mr. Riddle. All AYES; motion carried.
VI. MABAS Radio Test Schedule
No report.
VII. Old Business
A. MERCI Base Station Project
D/C Rauter reported on several licensing and base station power issues in the Bloomington area. He is also working on several DPL related issues to avoid interference from Indiana.
B. VHF Interoperability Radios
No report.
C. Rock Island County
No report.
D. Southwest Central Dispatch
No report.
E. EMnet
Chief Maplethorpe reported that he, Chief Dato and Mike Moos from OSFM met via teleconference to discuss the fire service. EMnet project. Mr. Moos projects approximately 340 terminals will be available for fire departments in the first distribution. A discussion was held concerning distribution priority. MABAS TRT, Haz-Mat, USAR and population center departments will be given priority
F. IAFC/Top Priority
D/C Rauter reported that the IAFC has not responded to his response to the IAFC Top Priority document. He reported that a thicker 2006 version has been released, although he has not reviewed the document.
G. MABAS Dispatch Yahoo Group
D/C Rauter reported that members continue to be added to the Yahoo list serve.
H. Statewide Radio License
No report.
I. Carbondale Area
No report
J. SIEC
No report.
D/C Rauter reported that he will be attending the Midwest Interoperability Summit in October.
K. Chicago IFERN
Mr. Riddle reported that his dispatch center successfully tested IFERN with Chicago. This matter is now resolved.
L. STARCOM21
Chief Maplethorpe reported that ITTF has approved additional talkgroups for MABAS.
VIII. New Business
Mr. Lozar reported that DuPage County is evaluating a possible public safety trunking system.
Mr. Riddle reported that he has received complaints of base station interference on BLUE Fireground. Mr. Lozar agreed to monitor BLUE Fireground from Ducomm.
IX. Information for the Good of the Committee
Chief Maplethorpe reported that the October MABAS Communications Committee meeting will be cancelled due to conflicts with the Illinois Fire Chiefs and APCO/NENA conferences.
X. Adjournment
D/C Rauter moved to adjourn the meeting. Second by Mr. Riddle. All AYES; the meeting adjourned at 12:00 noon.
The next meeting for the MABAS Communications Committee is scheduled for Monday, November 20, 2006 at 1000 hours. The location of the meeting will be at Lisle-Woodridge Fire Station 1. Please mark your calendars.
