News Release from APCO International

The FCC designated Transition Administrator (TA) made the announcement of their plan to proceed with the 800 MHz Rebanding during the recent APCO Winter Symposium Series in Orlando on Monday January 31st. The plan was submitted to the FCC on the same day. Subject to the approval of the FCC, the plan would consist of four major waves beginning with the first wave scheduled for June 27, 2005. The first wave of action took into account the needs of major population centers that have experienced the greatest degree of interference.

Final implementation is also dependent upon final approval and agreement by Nextel. Nextel has a deadline of February 7, 2005 to approve and commit to the FCC Rebanding Notice of Proposed Rulemaking.
